Used almost exclusively in military and motorsport vehicle applications, this is definitely above your standard PVC-jacketed wire. This is the stuff that is used in many aviation applications, as well as vehicles that go into space.  The teflon jacketing allows it to survive much higher temperatures and radiation limits, plus provides for a much more compact wire bundle since it is about 10x thinner than PVC jackets. Wire 18 AWG and larger is only available in black, red, and white.
