CAN Adapter/Splitter

$20.00

New!! If you spend time poking around on CAN buses, this is one handy device to have. Designed around the pseudo-standard Sub-D 9 connections used across the automotive industry, this device gives you more options in connecting your test equipment.  It features a switchable 120-Ohm termination to allow removal of a bus device that contains internal termination without disrupting the bus.  When using the 3-connector version, it offers additional flexibility to tap into the CAN bus with a connection for your test equipment. Multiple devices can be plugged into each other to allow for multiple test equipment connections.

The base configuration features one female and one male Sub-D 9 at each end of the board. This allows you to install the device into tight spaces, but doesn't allow for a "Tee" or tap for any instrumentation.  Selecting the additional connector option allows you to add a splice to an existing bus for use with any instrumentation or additional devices you'd like to add.  It is also available with a protective housing.

Note: This device has been designed with a split-termination technique, widely used in the auto industry, that provides better noise rejection on the CAN bus than single-sided termination.

The base device has been designed to fit directly onto CAN analysis tools such as Vector's VN16xx series. Please note that if installing on a VN1640 with the 2nd connector option, this connector may not be accessible in all positions. The housing option may not limit the number of devices that can be installed on the CAN analysis tool.

This device follows the pseudo-standard pin out:

pin signal
2 CAN Low
3 gnd
5 shield
7 CAN High
